The traditional consulting model STINKS!

The way most consultants market their services guarantees they will be in the buffalo hunt. That is, feast or famine. This is because the traditional consulting marketing model MUST have introductions to generate business. It goes something like this: I know Bill Smith from ABC Company. I have to know Bill’s problems. Bill must trust me enough to tell me his problems. I then have to know you and your capabilities. Yes and no. You will most likely operate in a metro area. Clients are almost always located within fifty miles of downtown. If you want to consult with clients outside your city, you certainly can, but most folks want to sleep in their own bed every night.
